Firmware update for Epiphan Pearl – media playback, graphics and more!


Already known as the universal video solution, Epiphan Pearl™ adds a few more arrows to its quiver with the just-released 4.19 firmware. 

This update includes exciting new features – media playback and graphics integration – alongside many other minor updates. 

It is free for all Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, and Pearl Nano customers and is available now. You can download the firmware with a free Epiphan Edge™ account, enabling cloud control of your devices or using the local web UI.

Media playback

Add recorded videos into live productions with the ability to playback media during live productions, using Pearl-2 and Pearl Mini.

Graphics

External graphics from Singular.Live, Uno, Flowics, or other HTML-based graphics tools can easily integrate into Pearl-2 and Pearl Mini to make your videos even more dynamic.

Release notes for Pearl-2 firmware release 4.19.0:

  • Added support for media playback enabling you to add an MP4 video file to layout within a channel.
  • Added support for web URL as input for use with graphics solutions such as Singular.LiveUnoFlowics. This can be used for cases such as lower-thirds and branding. 
  • Increased number of simultaneous sources that can be streamed to Panopto from 4 to 6.
  • Implemented a fix for an issue that prevented the upload of recorded files to Panopto. This problem is encountered when Pearl is rebooted while uploading a recorded file to Panopto.
  • Implemented a solution to identify and restore the XLR analogue audio input capture when it fails due to grounding and/or external environmental issues.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented Pearl-2 from uploading files to existing subdirectories in an S3 bucket using AFU.
  • Resolved an issue that caused video signals from the SDI input on Pearl-2 to not de-interlace properly.

  • Resolved an issue that prevented Pearl Nano from uploading files to existing subdirectories in an S3 bucket using AFU.
