Game-changing news from ISE 2024 and the year ahead for AV

Andrew Paton, Managing Director AP Tech, attended Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the world’s premier AV and systems integration exhibition in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this month. He shares game-changing news and what’s coming up in the AV space this year.

Attendees and growth

2024 marked ISE’s 20th anniversary. It was the second year the exhibition was held in the vibrant city of Barcelona, which is now ISE’s permanent home.

With a bigger-than-ever footprint – a remarkable 30 per cent larger than last year – the exhibition kicked off with upbeat vibes and optimism. The eight halls of the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via were buzzing.

The show attracted 73,891 unique verified attendees from 162 countries, a record since its inception, representing an increase of 27% on the 2023 edition.

We witnessed new technology releases and thought-provoking conferences and attended keynote sessions this year.

Display technology proliferation

Display technology was abundant at ISE. The most prominent example of this was ISE's welcome screen.

Its size and strategic location captivated attendees while allowing the interior of the building to be visible through the content, creating a seamless amalgamation of technology and architecture.

ISE 2024 Welcome Screen

The screen is now a permanent fixture at the venue. It covers 193m² and comprises 950 tiles with a 3.9mm pixel pitch.

For screens that require content and sound reproduction, AP Tech has the complete solution:

  • Epiphan Video and AREC Media Station for professional and reliable video streaming hardware for live video capture.
  • The APT AV range of leading IP cameras and professional video conferencing equipment.
  • Cornered Audio’s range of discreetly designed speakers with exquisite space-filling sound.

ISE clearly demonstrated that the opportunities for AV integrators are extensive across every market segment.

Automation, automation, automation

Automation continues to dominate new product developments within AV technology, driven by customer needs. The rising quality, utility, and ease of use of solutions create more user opportunities.

What’s new for Epiphan Video

We caught up with our good friends from Epiphan Video, who officially launched the next generation of the Epiphan Pearl family at ISE: Pearl Nexus.

Pearl Nexus sets up the bright future of video capture and automation, redefining how we capture, stream, and record video. It is the first purpose-built rackmount capture appliance designed for Pro AV and Higher Education.

Nexus’ space-saving features were born from listening to the needs of the University of Las Vegas, which was transitioning to Epiphan.

With Panopto and Kaltura integrations and automated scheduling, recording, and streaming, Pearl Nexus fits the centre of workflows and is seamlessly integrated with all the hardware and software used in professional AV environments.

Awards for Pearl Nexus

Nexus snagged multiple awards at ISE, a testament to innovation in the ProAV industry and a very well-received new product.

Pearl Nexus is available for pre-order now, with shipping expected in late Autumn.

Cornered Audio

The good folk from Cornered Audio were also at ISE. Hans V. Madsen, founder of Cornered, shared two new product releases, the LS2 speaker and the C15i subwoofer.

The LS2 speaker is a customer-driven product that fills a gap in the market regarding clarity combined with high SPL. It’s a very high-powered line source model with good dispersion and coverage.

The C15i subwoofer is a ferrite version of the C15NC, built without the flying system and with a focus on value. The plywood cabinet features recessed Speakon NL4 connections with link, a solid 2mm steel grille and optional rubber feet.

View our commercial installations brochure to read the technical specifications for the LS2 speaker and the C15i subwoofer.

We are also excited to reveal news of an upcoming product release from Cornered Audio later this year: new mounting hardware that enables you to mount a speaker on the wall. More to come.

APT AV Firmware Updates

We caught up with Minrray, manufacturer of the APT AV range of cameras. The focus for 2024 is to improve existing products with firmware upgrades. Upcoming is new firmware for the VB460 and improved tracking for PTZ cameras.

We’ll stay abreast of the upgrades and share more information when it becomes available.

New from AREC Media Station

The “new” news from AREC is they have launched a product: AREC Media Station LS-410. It features diverse connectivity options through its newly added USB jack, HDMI, and RJ-45 interfaces. Capturing up to four video sources from various options, the encoder is ideal for education, live event production, corporates and more. View the full specifications here.

We’re always searching for the latest technology and solutions to help you fulfil profitable AV integration projects and advance AV experiences. We had some exciting discussions with new companies we plan to start distributing in 2024 and will share more details in the coming months.
